If the whole world wasn't sufficiently in love with Leonardo DiCaprio, the actor took care of that this Valentine's Day, by dedicating his Best Actor BAFTA to the most important woman in his life: his mother.
They say behind every great man is a great woman. But also behind every kid, there is a mum or dad who has gone to extreme measures to help their kids achieve their dreams. No matter their own career they have sacrificed and gone through hours and hours of dedication: driving you everywhere with your dinner in the back of the car or sitting for hours waiting to drive you back home. And the next day, again!
We all need someone when we’re young to get us through those tough times, to believe in us even we can’t believe in ourselves and who actually bother and sacrifice for us no matter what. And I don’t mean those who actually bother once you are already famous or you have done something that matters to them. How many people have made a difference to our world today that were not rich, that came from nothing? The thing most of these people have in common is having that person behind them, their mum or dad who have gone to every length to help you become the best version of yourself: someone has waited silently, patiently, cheered and shouted during your football matches… the list goes on…
The father of the telephone Alexander Graham Bell, lived with his parents until just before his most famous invention. His mother home schooled him. Rafa Nadal, the world’s No1 tennis player said: “My family have always been the holy, untouchable core of my life, my center of stability and a living album of my wonderful childhood memories.”
These are just but a few examples of people who although talented and hardworking, made that final step thanks to the sacrifice and dedication of their parents.
So really, all that is left to say is, THANK YOU!
“The secret of life, is to fall seven times and to get up eight times.”-Paulo Coelho
